As we age, the natural aging process leads to the emergence of fine lines, wrinkles, and sagging skin. Fortunately, there’s a safe and effective solution known as PDO Threads. These Polydioxanone threads are made from a biocompatible polymer designed for secure reabsorption by the body, offering a non-surgical alternative to combat the effects of aging.
A thread lift is a technique that tightens and lifts your skin using a dissolvable suture. It is a less invasive technique than facelift surgery and can typically be completed in less than 45 minutes without going under a knife.
PDO thread lifts employ a biodegradable polyester suture. They are most suited for skin rejuvenation, although other modern thread lifts are more effective at lifting sagging skin. PDO threads are one of three kinds of sutures commonly used in thread lift treatments, with the other two being Polylactic acid (PLA) and Polycaprolactone (PCA).
PDO threads are the oldest of the three, having been utilized in operations since the 1980s. They're constructed of colorless polyester, which degrades in your body after roughly six months. The presence of these sutures in your skin stimulates fibroblasts, which are cells in your body that generate collagen. Collagen is a protein that provides structure and flexibility to your skin, and one of the primary reasons for aging skin is collagen loss.
PDO Mono Thread: They are smooth sutures that stimulate collagen formation to help revitalize your skin.
PDO Cog Thread: To offer support and raise areas of your face, these threads include barbs that latch onto your skin like miniature fish hooks.
PDO Screw Thread: These are made of one or two interlaced threads and are used to restore volume to sunken areas of your skin.
You will almost certainly be recommended to abstain from alcohol and tobacco usage for at least five days before your procedure, as well as anything else that may raise your risk of bleeding or bruising. This includes avoiding Advil, ibuprofen, aspirin, omega-3 fatty acids, and green tea extracts. On the day of your treatment, your doctor will discuss any potential issues and advise you on how to recover.
The exact technique used by your surgeon may differ, but in general, the procedure is as follows:
PDO thread lift recovery is relatively limited. You may experience some swelling and bruising during the first 24 to 48 hours, but you should be able to resume most of your usual activities immediately. To avoid accidentally dislodging the thread, try to avoid scratching your face as much as possible during the week after your surgery. Additionally, for the first few weeks, you should refrain from pursing your lips, smoking, and drinking through a straw.
Other activities to avoid for 1 to 2 weeks include sleeping on your side, strenuous exercise, and sauna visits. You can prevent rolling onto your face in the middle of the night by sleeping with your head raised on a cushion.
